Halloween and Zootacular
I’m alive!! (just got internet figured out and found the camera cord!)
The move went great and so far we are in the 10% of boomerang-ers who are doing awesome back at home.
I just wanted to do a quick post today about the last of our Fall adventures!
Halloween Zootacular…
Zootacular is over but you can always check out the Irvine Park Railroad railroad anytime! For more information call 714-973-6846 or visit the OC Zoo website here.
If you haven’t already, you can follow OC Parks (@OCParks) or find them on Facebook at www.facebook.com/OrangeCountyParks.
Orange County Zoo. 1 Irvine Park Road, Orange, CA 92869.
And Halloween…
I love dressing up for anything… add a family theme and I’m so on it. Unless I just moved the day before! We were (and are) still getting settled but we had the best time trick-or-treating in the neighborhood I grew up in…
AND the winner of the Beverly Hills Basics JP giveaway is Hollie from Holls Goes Social!! YAY!!
Camp Spooky
We were invited to go check out Knott’s Berry Farms Camp Spooky.
So fun!!
We started the day with breakfast at Lucy’s Lunchbox as the Peanuts characters came around to meet us – dressed up for Halloween of course! There was one friendly monster that most kiddos weren’t too hot on… I’ll let you guess which one it was… (monster pic stolen from my friend Kyla) ![]()
Kiddos are encouraged to dress up and get trick-or-treat all over Camp Spooky but parent costumes aren’t allowed. As much as I love to dress up for Halloween I LOVE this rule. It made me feel good to know adults who might dress too scary or skanky wouldn’t be allowed with the kiddos.
Camp Spooky was decorated for fall – even a haystack maze. And you know a trip to Knott’s wouldn’t be complete without rides rides rides…
MORE FALL SUFF:
~ The Discovery Science Cube has their Bug Invasion Exhibit again! YAY! I didn’t get a chance to go this year but check out my post from last year. It’s super fun. Especially for lil’ boys. Also it is a hop-skip-and-jump away from the Pumpkin Factory. So you can check out the bugs then get all your pumpkin fun done in one day. They have games and kiddo activities galore!
~ The Cube is also hosting their annual Pumpkin Launch event on November 5th. We have never been but it looks like SO MUCH fun. It’s at Cal State Fullerton (where I got married) and I’m 99% sure we’ll be there this year!! Meet us!!
~Pretend City has a new program called Baby Steps. It’s pretty cool! They close down the Library, Café, and Construction Site from 2-3:30pm certain days and parents get to engage in age-appropriate facilitated activities with their infants, 0-16 months old! If you are interested the next one is this Monday the 24th, details here! ![]()

Two awesome giveaways!!
OC Great Park, Cupcakes & Razor
I’ve mentioned the Farmers Market at the OC Great Park a few time but I’m just getting around to posting pix from our visit!
We went right after church and the morning was a little chilly… Perfect for Lids!
Our main reason for going?
Of course! (me and Kristen below… I’m doing my camouflage the arm fat trick)
Meringue Bake shop on twitter and Facebook!
There are all sorts of yummy food vendors and unique crafty type things too. I’m thinking of doing an Eli’s Lids booth.
If I did, would you come visit me??
After you grab lunch from one of the yummy food vendors, you can enjoy the rock playground, kiddo games, the carousel, and giant orange balloon ride. (If you wanna do the balloon ride, it books up really fast! You HAVE to get there early and sign up and the little building and fill out a release form. They will give you a pager that works all around the park so you can hang out. You would hate to hype up the “awesome balloon ride” with your kiddos and then NOT be able to go… ahem!)
ALL FOR FREE!!

(Dear Razor, If you want to sell like a jazillion more scooters, just put this little beauty on the packages! Smooches, KN)
Razor has a new scooter with a thing on the back that makes sparks (F-U-N!) and another neat one that you can attach chalk to, and make fun designs of your ride!

We had so much fun at the Great Park on both visits!!
After beach season we’ll be at the Great Park most Sundays for lunch after church. Join us!!
Fairy Gardens–Not just for Girls
I discovered Dragonfly Shops and Gardens after buying a book called Fun and Educational Places to go With Kids and Adults in Southern California. The book is $25.50 (including shipping and tax!), if you get it from the site or retails for $24.95 at book stores. You can get it at Dragonfly Shops and Gardens too! The book is like 3 inches thick and worth EVERY penny! Trust me!
In the book I stumbled across a Fairy Garden Making class.
Ummm, yes please!!
But don’t think that a fairy garden is just for lil’ girls!
See how Eli boy-ified his Fairy Garden…
First you paint the flower pot and make mini birdhouses…
All throughout the class you sprinkle fairy dust into the garden.
And yep, it’s the real deal!! (wink)
Dirt is fun for boys.
Included in the price of the class ($20) is the whole garden (pot, 2 mini plants, arbor, birdhouse, arbor, mini butterfly, frog AND ladybug) and you can buy lil’ extras from the shop if you like. (But I’m sure they can add up so if you take your kiddo you might want to set a limit ahead of time!)
Eli brought superheros and pirates to add to his garden.
The Fairy Garden has officially been Boy-ified!!!
If you head into Dragonfly Shops and Gardens, mention Eli’s Lids and get 20% off.
More on the shop this week!!!
