How to make a pom pom necklace
I found this necklace tutorial on Pinterest and thought it would be just perfect to make. (I’m having technical issues with Pinterest right now so I can’t find the link… I’ll try again later.)
Here’s what you need:
~ Necklace with a round charm/pennant (I got mine at the 99 Cent Store and it had a little heart charm on it which made it perfect for Valentines Day which is when I made it… they still have them right now!)
~ Small piece of knit red fabric, mine was about 3×5” (You can buy a tee shirt at the dollar store and have enough fabric for like 100 necklaces)
~ Toothpick
~ Hot glue gun
~ Pen
~ Scissors
1. Use the charm to trace about 8-12 circles on the knit fabric. Cut out the circles on the inside of your tracing line. The circles don’t have to be perfect!
I traced 6 circles then folded my fabric in half so the cutting would take half the time. EASY!
2. Fold the circle around a toothpick to make a nice point for gluing.
3. Use a small dab (is that a word?) on the fabric and glue it near the center of the charm. Work your way from the center to the ends.
4. Shape the pom pom with scissors by cutting off any areas that stick out.
Now wasn’t that simple? I think it turned out just peachy too. This is another fun one to do in a group. Easy, inexpensive and the outcome is super fun! A lot of my friends made them for their daughters for Valentines Day. They would be great to do in green for St Paddy’s Day… maybe even a teacher giftie!
Happy Monday!
One Dollar Earrings
Dollar store earrings + spray paint = kick a%$ earrings
While walking the aisles of the 99 cent store I came across the cutest wooden earrings. So I bought 10 pairs.
REALLY!
I gave a few as favors at a craft night, kept one wooden and spray painted the rest.
You can do it in minutes too!
You’ll need:
~Earrings (duh)
~Spray paint (double duh)
~Needle nose pliers
~Some sort of drop cloth (I used a paper towel)
1. Use the needle nose pliers to remove all the hardware.
2. Lay the earrings on your drop cloth. Spray. Let dry. Flip. Repeat till you like the color.
3. Use the pliers to reattach the hardware.
I get compliments every time I wear mine… I’ll probably go back and get 10 more pairs.
REALLY!
Side note: I ended up getting my hair colored darker and loved it… but now I think I hate it. Blarg. (me with blonde hair below)
Red, White and Blue on Y-O-U!
Can you believe 4th of July is only 6 days away?? Time to share some of the 4th of July things I’ve been a-brewin’ the past couple of weeks! I’ll start with a fun family activity!
We had SO MUCH fun BOOing at Halloween I thought I would put a 4th of July spin on the idea and here’s what I came up with…
Red, White & Blue on YOU!!
I bought loads of American Flag magnets (I got mine from www.flagsoncars.com) then we snuck around the neighborhood and parking lots and stuck them on cars with this little note:
I was just at the 99 cent store today and they had 3 American flags for 99 cents! That would be super fun to pass along… or maybe a 4th of July wreath or cupcakes with lil’ flags on top or red white and blue candy or… you get the idea.
Feel free to copy my note and modify it with what you are gifting. (I know I should have made the note non-specific to my giftie in an adorable poem… maybe next year!) Let’s make this a “thing” together!
Eli thought we should be disguised as bushes to “flag” people, so… (washable markers)
Cora Jane decided she wanted to be a kitty cat that hides in the bushes and she wanted her daddy to be a kitty too.
That girl has Hot Hubby wrapped around her little finger! (yes, the whole fam-damily got in on the face painting action!)
You should practice hiding in bushes every time a car goes by…
Be super sneaky and run a lot… (Eli’s face in this pic is priceless)
Tomorrow I’ll share a tutorial for this awesome wreath…
