I got milk glass from my Grandmom…

Mondays I like to share something I got. We all like to share a good deal, splurge, unique find or fun activity. If you got something awesome (or lame) recently and blogged about it, be sure to leave me a link to the post in the comments!

I have a weakness for dishes (remember my turkeys?). There is just something about a beautiful table setting that gets my heart a pumpin’. On Thanksgiving my grandmom gave me my birthday gift – some of her milk glass that I’ve had my eye on for ages. IMG_4811Have you heard of Milk Glass? It’s absolutely beautiful vintage dinnerware that comes in blue, green white & pink.  Now I own 9 brunch plates with punch cups, a kick a&$ pineapple sugar bowl, a little votive (I think it’s a votive) and another thingy. I don’t know what it is, do you? I thought I would ask because of all the help I got with my salt and pepper shakers.

what you have there, the thingy, is a milk glass epergne. the white removable piece is the epergne horn…it is for a floral arrangement, or it can have fruit on the bottom and flowers from the horn..

love the pineapple I am an avid milk glass collector and have probably over 100 pieces so far

    • Thank you!!! I thought it had to be a flower or a candle! It’s so pretty. I want to do my whole kitchen in the green and blue milk glass colors. Just started my collection with the stuff my Grandmom gave me :)

  • Lilah:

Randomly happened by this while looking for milk glass images. I think your votive may actually be a toothpick holder or salt cellar. The pineapple is probably for jam or preserves more than sugar (but there is no reason NOT to use it for sugar). The mystery item looks like the Moon and Stars pattern by L.E. Smith. It looks like a taper candle holder with a removable floral insert.

These are so cool! My Grandma has milk glass and I love it!

    • What makes it so yummy looking?!?! I’ve never picked a theme for my dining room and kitchen but I think I’m going to go with those muted blues and greens inspired by the milk glass.

  • Yay. Cute pineapple! I’m also a sucker for milk glass. I have some pear shaped dishes that I purchased from an etsy seller. When my mother-in-law saw them she got all excited because she said she has several pieces that she never uses. Perhaps I’ll have my own gifted collection very soon :)

    • FUN! I bet the pears are adorable. I’m loving the blue and green right now too! I saw something that made me think of you tonight while shopping. It was only 2 bucks… if it’s there next time I go I’m going to pick it up for ya and have Brad bring it to work for a husband pass along.

  • That is some beautiful milk glass! I don’t know what that thing is, but I am wondering if the thing you think is a votive is really an egg cup/holder? Just wondering… :-)
