Snowman day…

…as in Frosty!

Frosty day consisted of creating the snowfamily above (lil’ marshmallows, chocolate chips & peanut butter) and learning the words to this song…

Gingerbread day…

This year I thought I would do Christmas themed days with the kiddos. Yesterday we did Gingerbread Day. (I posted about Christmas Tree day on OC Family last week.)

I got the Gingerbread Village instead of our usual large house and I’m so glad! There were 5 lil’ houses so everybody got to do their own thing. (I got it at Jo-ann’s with a 40% off coupon)

Tip: Hot glue the houses together ahead of time. I’ve found that when you use frosting you have to hold the pieces together a LONG time before they actually stay together. As in, too long for kiddo attention spans.

Eli said he felt like “the Cake Boss,” and I thought that was hysterical.

We also watched this on you tube…

Earlier this month Cora Jane and I had a girls night out making gingerbread houses with the folks from the Taco Bell Discovery Science Center. (Is the Taco Bell thing new or have I just been on planet baby for the last few years!?!?) Check out our house. I had to release my inner perfectionist and just let her work her magic on the house…

Did you know the Discovery Science Center has an awesome exhibit right now called

You may be wondering…

The short answer is…

Holiday Gift Guide for 4-year-old Lil’ Boys

To make holiday shopping easy Eli’s Lids has compiled a Gift Guide of the best for Lil’ Boys! Separated by age – 1-year-olds, 2-year-olds, 3-year-olds & 4-year-olds – and filled with tried and true classics alongside unique finds, you’re sure to find the perfect giftie for the lil’ guys in your life!

Toys:

You all know pirates are hot ticket items around here. Eli asked for a pirate ship that we can “sail The 7 Seas” in… but since we didn’t win the million dollar raffle we had to think smaller. We are huge fans of playmobile. They have every play world a little boy can dream up – see for yourself! Warning: There are some REALLY tiny pieces and the rule at our house is, “If it’s left out it might get vacuumed up!”

And Lego… lots of em’. We got this bucket at Sam’s Club but if you don’t have a membership you can find them at Walmart too!

(This is exactly what we are getting Eli this year!)

Clothes:

Old Navy is running some awesome sales right now!! Loads of boys shirts for $5. Check out the Old Navy sale page. And if you love matching (like I do), you can usually find stuff in all sizes!

I got this and this, sized to fit both my boys…

4 yr hounds tooth4 yr collar shirt

Book:

(you should already have all the Dr Seuss books)

Now that your lil’ guy is getting older it’s time for more “wordy” books. We are digging the Berenstain Bears. The books are a great price and there are SO MANY BOOKS you can find a topic on just about anything.

From everyday family issues…

4 yr bears messy room  4 yr bears TV  4 yr bears dentist

…to more serious topics like…

4 yr bears guns      4 yr bears pollute      4 yr bears strangers

Movie:

Um… yeah. Toy Story 3. That’s it.

(Eli and Cora Jane’s first real movie experience. Though we’ve had a few more since hearing about the UltraStar Cinemas Kidtoons)

TV Show:

You have to check out Shaun the Sheep. It’s awesome. If you’re partial to Claymation and British humor (like me) you will like this show as much as your kiddos! Shaun the Sheep makes Eli laugh out loud. (My favorite episode is the hiccup one)

4 yr shaun the sheep

Games:

UNO Moo is the perfect game for preschoolers. The game is played just like traditional UNO except with animals instead of numbers. I love that everything fits nicely in the barn carrying case (don’t you just love toys that do that??). Cora Jane picked out for Eli for Christmas. I can’t wait to play it with them.
